This country has a lot of Old World charm as manifested in its two main cities, the capital Lisbon and the lovely community of Porto, 200 miles farther north. Numerous cities featuring intriguing historic sites and quaint neighborhoods dating back hundreds of years, afford visitors the opportunity to explore Portugal’s cultural heritage. Located on the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal has many beaches allowing for a variety of recreational water-borne activities.
Field Hockey
Portuguese teams are available for matches most months of the year, including January, March, May and August (to a more limited extent). In addition, teams from other European nations sometimes travel to Portugal to play in mini-tournaments with the visiting American teams.
