Edinburgh Castle: One of Scotland’s Most Visited Attractions

A historic landmark, the Edinburgh Castle was built during the 11th century in Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. The city is home to the Scottish National Parliament, but the country remains part of Great Britain. Edinburgh offers visitors an experience steeped in culture, history, and beauty, highlighted by its many historical structures backdropped by the imposing Arthur’s Seat Mountain that is nestled just behind the city.

About Edinburgh Castle

Once a residence to many Scottish monarchs, including Mary Queen of Scots, the Edinburgh Castle sits atop a volcano that exploded nearly 340 million years ago forming what is now known as Castle Rock. Today, a portion of Edinburgh Castle is used for military purposes, but it mainly serves as a world-famous tourist attraction.
